hair comb?

What is a good hair comb to get? I was looking at furminator, but I think it's maid more for long hair dogs. Any suggestions for a boxer?

I was thinking about getting the Zoom Groom as it seems to be the best for boxers from looking online for a little bit.

I comb is going to be worthless on a boxer, as is a furminator. You are on the right track with zoom groom, but I prefer to use a rubber curry on short coats like your boxer. Its a horse tool generally found at your local Farm and Fleet/Tractor supply, etc. for a few dollars. I find the short "teeth" to be more effective than a zoom groom.

Do you really think it's better than the zoom groom? I'm asking, because it's only $4.50 shipped from ebay, while the zoom groom seems to be twice the price at around 8-9 dollars

Yep, its better than the zoom groom. I am a professional groomer, and only have one zoom groom. I never use it...only the bather uses it on doublecoated breeds in the tub. I find it worthless for anything else. The curry is WAY better. Use it in a back and forth motion, and flicking motion.

I use a rubber curry on both my boxers. It's better than the zoom groom.

I ended up getting a rubber curry comb from the pet store, which was red and has a picture of a boxer on the box before opening it. I used it on my puppy, but it seems it scraps up hair, but doesn't collect it well. Am I supposed to brush him and then give him a bath or I'm just wondering how to use it well as it just seems like it's kicking up and pulling some of the dead hair, but not collecting that well. Could it be that he's a puppy and hair is slightly different?

Unfortunately, a brush's job is not to collect hair, its to remove the loose shedding hairs. I recommend you brush your dog outside, and let the hair blow away. You can use it before, during and after a bath if you like. Its easy enough on the skin to use daily without the worry of irritating the skin too. If you use it in small circular motions, it will collect more hair, but there is certainly going to be more hair everywhere.

I have a lab mix (shorter hair then reg. labs), a short hair chihuahua, and a rat terrier/pug mix and have used a variety of different styles of brushes.

I finally shelled out the $$ for a furminator and it works GREAT even on the chihuahua! I was skeptical.. and it really is the best brush I have ever used. Every time I brush them I get about half of a grocery bag full(packed very loosly of course). The little teeth are really small on it so I think it should still work. You could always ask the sales person if there is any way you could try it before you buy it.

I just bought the smallest one (I think it might even be for cats) because I have so many different sizes of dogs and I thought the small one would allow me to do around their necks etc. a bit easier.
