| HELP, need to find a new dryer!!! Currently I'm using at home a Metro Air Force Commander dryer. I have a golden retriever that needs to bathed every week in a medicated shampoo from allergies. After his bath I have to dry him completly otherwise he'll break out with hot spots and bumps all over his tummy. He's had this problem since puppyhood and he gets a great food and many supplements to help aid in this. To make a long story short... I want to find a dryer with more force to dry him quicker. I'm dry him outside in the heat and it takes me an hour of more to get him about 3/4 of the way dry, then I'll use a hair dryer or put him in a cage with fans to finish him off. I'd like to find something that has tons of force to dry him quicker, but not be too loud that I can't hear the rest of the day.
I've used the Metro Blaster and like it, but it's rather loud. I've read good things out the k9II, but hear it's really loud as well. I've lookind up the Kool-Dry and have used it and liked it, and I've heard good things about the Laube Magnum Dryer. I just fear the last two won't have enough force. I don't groom for a living, just need it for my pets. I do plan on getting another dog, a Bernese Mtn Dog, and that is another reason for wanting a forceful dryer, but would like it to be somewhat quite, I don't want to scare the puppy when teaching him to be dried.
I've read great things about the Romani, but that's not in my price range. I'd like something around $400 or less, preferably less. I also need to factor in that I'll be moving soon to Washington state where it's colder than here in Mississippi and I'll be grooming out of a garage, so I don't want the dogs to freeze while drying, so I don't know if I need something with a heat option.
Anyways, if anyone has any opinions or ideas please let me know!
Thanks, Karrie |

| Re: HELP, need to find a new dryer!!! I like the K9II hands down over any other dryer out there. You aren't going to get a dryer with enough force to dry a golden or berner quickly without it being loud. Wear earplugs, and put cotton balls in the dogs' ears. You can dry a full coated golden in 20 minutes or less with a K9II. There is no heat element in them, but they do blow warm air after a few minutes, as the motors heat up. The longer they run, the warmer they get, but never so hot that you will burn a dog. I am not a fan of Metro's, they just don't have the power I like (but them I am a professional groomer, and time is money)the Romani is overpriced I think, and the others just don't have enough kick/power to dry a large, coated dog in a decent time frame. Again, dryers are going to be loud if they are going to have enough force to work fast. I have heard of people cutting a hole for the intake and a hole for the hose inside of a large cooler, and placing the dryer inside, to hamper the noise level also. Just make sure you aren't overheating the dryer, but having the intake exposed thru the hole. I just wear shooting range earmuffs or plugs. |

| Re: HELP, need to find a new dryer!!! Thanks so much for the advice. That's what I was reading up on last night, If I'm going to be able to dry my dog, I need something with alot of kick and the other dryers, don't put out much. It's not that I'm lazy, but I'm lazy!!! I don't want to dry two goldens for over two hours everytime. And hour is much better!
Do you know of a site that sells them cheaper than $357.00? Just wondering!
Thanks, Karrie |

| Re: HELP, need to find a new dryer!!! I am with you Golden. A dryer can never have too much power..lol And the K9II has two switches so you can use low to dry their heads, and even take the nozzle off for their heads. But keep the nozzle on for their bodies, to blast the water and coat out. Petedge is about as cheap as it gets, and they are the $357 too, add shipping of course, they are heavy. That dryer will last you forever though, if you take care of it, and keep the intake clean of hair. Also, turn the motors on ONE at a time, and never with your feet. It will keep the motors from blowing out from the surge of power from turning both motors on at the same time. And feet break the switches.. learned that the hard way...lol Though the switches are cheap, and easy to fix yourself. |
