When can i start?

Hey peeps, i got a question..

When can i start filing my puppy's nails? He's a two month Husky pup.. but i want to be sure if i can file his nails already.

If so.. can anybody give me a hint at filing?
I heard metal files are extreamly good for the job, but would a sanding stick work too?

Thanks in advance!

Now is as good a time as any. You need to get your puppy used to the feeling of his nails and paws being handled, so he doesn't grow aversive to it in the future.

Make sure it is a pleasurable experience. If you're forcing the issue, nail trimming will be a bear. There's a good video on nail trimming in the "Bookmark this site" sticky.

Re: When can i start?

Thanks for the tip =)
He was resisting alot, so i gave him a chew toy to play with while i filed his nails, got tired, and decided to finish his hind legs tomorrow as he resisted more while i tried to file his hind nails.

What you have will work okay...

And you can start teaching him now; he likely has those lovely 'sharpies' already
