Question Nail Trimming NIGHTMARE?!

So I have a 1 year old Beagle mix... anyways I have always wanted to do my OWN grooming because lets just say MOST people I wouldn't trust with my dog. I tried to trim her nails today myself for the first time and she squirmed and wiggled and I was SOO afraid I was going to clip her the wrong way. I want to be able to groom my own dog but she is fiesty as you know what.

Any Suggestions?
