Doggy Dye question

Please no negative responses..i know some people are strongly against this for their own personal beliefs and reasonings..but i have a quick question.

There is a 4th of july parade and contest going on in my town. This is very last minute, but I have a pure white Siberian Husky who I think would look awesome/cool/patriotic in red and blue outlined/solid stars on her coat.

I understand it might be too short of notice to go with a groomer..and the ones that dye are a bit of a drive..is there a way i could go about doing it myself..i understand her coat might make it a little difficult, but what home remedies/dye could I use?

This is Zelda:

Re: Doggy Dye question

I know that we have put different colors in my daughter's hair - using spray-on color. I've also seen colored hair gels. I don't remember where we got the coloring. Maybe one of the larger drug store chains? Or even Wal-mart.

Re: Doggy Dye question

You can use Kool Aid ( no sugar, just the packets. Add water and let sit) It will not make her bright though, red will be pink, etc. And Kool Aid won't wash out....it has to wear out..very long time. lol You can go to Sallys or another beauty supply store and buy the colored hairsprays, gels, etc. Manic Panic is a great one, great color, but expensive, and you will need alot of it..lol If you can find Blow Pens, they work too. They are safe as long as you make sure she doesn't lick them off, then wash her afterwards. There is hair color made just for pets now. You can order it for future use at petedge.com You can also use spray glitter, etc. Make her fancy!

Re: Doggy Dye question

please post pictures of it when you're done. hope it turns out well!

I heard you can use food coloring and a spray bottle. My friend did this on her standard poodle but she was all one color.

Well, it's a bit late! LOL But, try using a stencil and color in with Blo Pens. Coloring takes skill, which requires practice! PetEdge has a line of coloring products, so check them out.

If you were going to get negative responses, that disclaimer wouldn't help.

I would just be careful not to use anything that might harm the dog if he licks it off. Then we'd have a problem.
