which blades?

I just got the andis pro. It comes with 1.5mm blades. Should I get a longer one if I want it to cut even better? I have a 10 week Cockapoo and my first grooming job was not the best. It seemed like I would make a pass with the 3/8 adapter and it wouldn't always cut. She looks a little uneven....

Re: which blades?

I am not really familiar with the Andis clippers, but I'll take a shot. Using a #4 blade on an Oster clipper will leave about 1/2-3/4" hair. If a snap-on comb is used over a #10 blade, it will leave 3/4 - 1.5" hair. Always clip WITH the direction the hair grows, and you will need to make more than one pass over any given area until your clip is fairly even. Once I am basically satisfied with the clip, I brush the dog's hair against the grain, comb it back down lightly, and clip one more time; this generally takes care of any hairs that "escaped" you the first time.

Hope this helps.
