| Re: Hey What Does It Take To Groom Aniamls ? Well, if you are going to groom horses, you will have to be in a stable. No city is going to allow you to do that in your own facility, unless it is an actual stable\veterinary facility for livestock.
For the dogs and cats, No, usually you don't need a license, although it can help. But learn from the best in the trade before trying to open your own business; a pet grooming school, in my humble opinion, can give you the basics of the trade, but NOTHING compares to actual apprenticing with a groomer who really knows what they are doing. I have groomed for 7 years, and this is how I learned. Dog shows are also a great way to pick up on grooming techniques...especially breed specific techniques. The groomer who I learned from was also a show breeder, and she was always coming back with tools of the trade. Go to as many grooming seminars as possible too...not just 'basic' grooming seminars, but specific ones; like seminars on grooming terriers, or poodles, etc...most seminars are going to have some of the best groomers in your state (ones who groom for the show ring), and their incite is very beneficial!!
As far as actually opening your own business someday, i am not sure about all the details of that; I would for sure get some form of business degree so you can run the business with the greatest 'ease' as possible; plus if you have the degree, and you hire someone to take care of the 'logistical' end of the business, you will know and be able to have more of a say in what happens with your business because you will know how to actually run one.
You might have to win the lottery too...cause opening and running a business will not be a cheap endeavor!!! I wish you the best of luck!!! |
