Best shampoo for dry skin

I've got a pooch with winter dry skin according to the vet. She has some itching and scaling around the base of her tail and it is itching her. What would be a good shampoo/conditioner for her? The vet told me to use coal tar shampoo but that irritates her skin all over, I think she may be allergic to it aside from the fact that it smells horrid. I have sulfadene medicated shampoo and also mane n tail shampoo and conditioner. Which (or both) would be best for her? We are also still treating for mange so she has to be bathed weekly or twice weekly and also gets frontline twice monthly.

Any shampoo will dry her out, some more than others. You can get Hy-Lyt from most vets offices, that's fairly moisturizing. Keeping her on a maximum dose of Omega fish oil will help combat the drying effects of the frequent bathing. Mane and Tail isn't ph balanced for dogs so I'd definetly bypass on that one.

This is absolutely the BEST SHAMPOO it's called Oats Fur Coats. But the best is to fix the problem from the inside out. What do you feed. I would feed a salmon based food for skin issues.
