We've been having this persistent problem with an odor coming from the kitchen floor. My dog is a yorkie/shi tzu mix, he eats high quality food and he smells wonderful (except if he's been rolling in something or if he's long overdue for a bath). Even his mouth (we brush his teeth 2-3 times per week), while not being minty fresh, does not normally smell like bad dog breath. But strangely, about 3-4 days after lysoling, bleaching, or scrubbing the hell out of the ceramic tile in the kitchen, an odd, acrid, wet-dog type smell starts to arise from it. And I'm sure it's the floor because you can get right down and smell it - and it stinks. Darwin stays in the kitchen when we are out of the house so between then and night time, he spend much of his time in there. I've even smelled his feet thinking maybe they just stink - nope. Then I realized that the same smell is on his favorite rubber toys as well...it's his dried up spit

. He plays with his toys, like his kong, in the kitchen, and the spit gets all over the floor. So now we are going to try a steam mop to facilitate the twice a week cleaning we will have to do to keep our kitchen stench-free. Has anyone had this problem before or even know what I'm referring to? Nobody seems to talk about dog spit as a source of odor in the house. Very disappointing since we have such a non-stinky dog. Will his chewing behaviors eventually slow down???
