Question pomeranians

hi, i have two 4 month old pomeranians. one of them has entered the "puppy ugly" stage. i actually love it. the other still has a fluffy puppy coat. i brush them almost every day. clean their ears. i play with their feet so they get used to it. i also play around with their mouths and jaws so they are comfortable with it. my question is, how often should i groom them professionally? i really like them to look their best and do not have the time to do it myself. or the know how to do it. i was thinking maybe every 3 weeks. i can give a bath in the middle and brush them regularily. but i cant trim them. also, how do i explain to the grrommer that i want her to just shorten and neaten their normal coat. not a puppy cut or a lion cut. nor do i want the teddy bear cut. i just want her to thin the coat and take it down in a trim. does that have a special name? thanks for any imput.

Re: pomeranians

once ever 3-4 weeks to keep them always looking good would be sufficent. and as far as explaining to groomer what you want...i suggest telling them you want them "shaped up" (at least that's what we call it where i work) that means they'll trim the feet up, the bottoms and the stuff inbetween the toes, and scissor away any fly away hairs around the pants (the puffy part on the back legs) the feathers (the hair on the back of the front legs), the chest, and often around the underside as well, and just give them a nice shape. they'll more than likely shave a little potty area too just to make it easier to keep that area clean.
