Ok, not sure where to post this. With my cats (birmans) their skin color matches their hair color. Riley is white with butterscotch ears and a spot on his back. However, when I wash him I've noticed black splotches of color around his nose and on his body. Almost like large age spots or freckles. Is this normal?

In my experience it sounds normal, not all animals skin will have the same coloring as their fur/hair. If you are still concerned I suggest to ask a vet.
As a dog groomer, I see alot of this, especially in small white and white/coloured dogs. Its usually just like our freckles that we can get from sun exposure and others are just born with pigmentation in the skin. I assume it would be the same with white and white/coloured cats. I can't tell you WHY they get them as I myself don't know, but from my experience its failry common and should be no cause for alarm.
