| agression problem - advice please Hi all, I have a 2.5 year old male castrated cocker spaniel in for training. He is boarding for a month minimum because he is people aggresive & his owners cannot do anything with him. Not going into details, but we think he has been beaten by a member of the family. It took two weeks of lots of time, patience and tender loving care to get him to accept me. I am introducing him to other people slowly and carefully, they give him tidbits when they pass etc. He HAD made what we thought was a miraculous change until today when my boss went to stroke him (he has approx 18 years experience in training to a very high level so knows what he is doing). For what appeared to be no apparent reason the dog turned on him and he meant it ! we were quick to react so no harm done. I am desperate to help this dog so he dosent end up in the dog pound. Any suggestions very gratefully received. |

| Re: agression problem - advice please I don't mean any unkindness but, if a trainer with 18 years experience is stumped, what are you expecting from strangers on an Internet forum who have never seen the dog?
Sometimes I think we all expect too much here. |

| Re: agression problem - advice please Dog pound, what if a family with kids takes the dog? If you gave it your best shot and a person with experience like that doesn't know what is wrong. I think you know what I am thinking, atleast you gave it your all. |

I also rescued a dog that sounded like the one you have and I just wanted to kill the previous owners, I hold them responsible for the poor dog that I tried to work with. |

| Re: agression problem - advice please thx for that. I am going to keep going with him for a while and i will probably let you all know the outcome. Would be good if it was one of those 'nice' endings.... |

| Re: agression problem - advice please I knew a rescue dog (not a cocker) with rage syndrome. The dog would be great 90% of the time, but that 10% was totally unpredictable. The dog had to be euthanized, because a dog with that kind of problem could nto be safely adopted out. |
