Training a LAB to Jump into the water

Hello Dog Lovers,
I have a pet Lab puppy 7 months old. I have trained her in many basic commands and she seems to learn quickly. This past weekend I was trying to teach her to jump off a dock into a lake and was not making any headway. She loves to swim and wants to enter the water from the shore.
I need suggestions on the best way to get her to overcome her fear of jumping in. Any Suggestions.

Thanks
Chris & Cali

I don't have any experience in traing this

BUT, my girl does jump into the water. How I got her to do it?

She loves to retrieve. I'd set her up at the edge of the pool/dock, and get her excited, amped up about the ball/stick whatever. "Ready.... ready.... GO!" Then throw it. She jumps in all the time now!

Here's a pic:

Good luck! Hope I helped

Thanks

Wow that was quick with the replies. Who would have known there was a site and competitions for dogs jumping off of docks. Thanks for the info.

I was just wondering WHY you need her to jump off a dock? If she likes swimming and enterring the water from the shore, why not let her? I mean... unless you intend on enterring her in the dock jumping competitions. Maybe jumping off a dock is scary for her - or doing a belly flop on the water doesn't appeal.
