Help in training!

I always take my pup to a specified spot to pee and to poo. But, if I leave her outside in the yard (alone, when i go out)) she just goes wherever she wants to (of course, outside). She started doing like this after the rain which poured 10 days ago. I did not take her to that spot during the rain becoz i do want her to get wet. Any suggestions on how to train her to use again in a particular spot. Also, any suggestions on how to deal with this problem during rainy season. Thanks!

Re: Help in training!

Bait the area where you want her to go with a paper towel that you have wiped up an accident, or some stool that you have picked up in other places in the yard. You'll have to be consistent even in the rainy weather or you will end up confusing the dog.

Our little dogs hate the rain and snow. So we have put a small fence around their area, about 10' x 10'. During the rain and snow we put a tarp over the top of the fencing as a roof overhead.

Or you could train " hurry up" or whatever word you want too. Start with this- when the dog goes say in a quiet calm voice " hurry up,..( pause) hurry up..". If you do this for several days you will notice one time when the say the chosen word- the dog goes.
This really comes in handy when like you are at a road side with a dog that from the noise- forgets why they are there.. lol. Or- like with my dogs- they hate the rain- I swear a drop of water hits their head- its like no way am I going here.. "Hurry up works.." ( side effect to using the word hurry up- one time with a young pup in my house, my husband said " we need to hurry up..- the pup went on the floor.. lol..- so pick something less obvious like " go potty" etc..

No problem- this will also come in handy if you are at a hotel etc or an area with distractions. Just be careful what word you pick- remember my story on " hurry up.." lol.. Men usually dont like to say "go potty" so maybe " get busy" or "finish up.." etc..
