Exclamation Ok I think I understand this site now lol Great dane jumping issues 10 months old

Max is about 10 months, and is jumping on me. My husband he doesnt jump on but me he does. I am the one that walks him and feeds him. He is just so hyper around me and jumps and acts crazy even after I walk him he will still try to jump. And Sam my little pembroke welsh gets aggressive with him because he thinks he is the alpha dog, so he trys to fight with him. HMMMM dog drama I am really trying to get these two to calm down some, I know max is a puppy and I understand but he is not listening at all lately. If anyone has any thoughts that would be great!!! thanks

I've never tried this method, but saw it used on a very large german shepherd that was out of control with jumping. You attach the leash to their collar and then step on the leash so that they can stand up straight without being able to jump. You then lean over or do something that triggers the jumping, but because you are standing on the leash they are unable to complete a jump. As long as they attempt to jump do nothing but stand firmly on the leash, but when they stop and just look at you or sit, praise and treat them. The trainer I saw was using a clicker, so if you were to use one you would click as soon as the pup stops attempting to jump.

With my dogs I've always crossed my arms over my chest held high and look up or away from the dog (plainly ignoring them) until they stop jumping. I've also combined crossed arms with turning my back on them. They prefer to have attention so as soon as they stop jumping up I praise them. I'm not sure how this method will work with a really large breed.
Hope it helps,
Stephanie
