won't stay in the yard

I kind of posted this in my other set of questions, but my puppy will not stay in the yard. She's not completely leash-trained so I don't know what type of leash I should use because she really wants to run over there and I don't want her choking nor do I want her resenting the leash. Any suggestions on what I should be using? I have a leash with a short lead, one with a long one, and a retractable leash (which I haven't started using). Should I be getting a harness one or will one of those be suitable?
Also, any tips on how to take her out without her playing for 15 minutes- it's getting to the point that I dread taking her out. (and, yes, we do go outside just to play sometimes)

I trained all of my dogs I have ever owned by teaching them their names and how to come when called and put the leash of your choice on them and call them to you and they will catch on to the idea! Also if your dog is afraid of the leash you chose, then let the leash go inside and you call your dog to you with a treat! The dog will ocme to you and reward her/him!

I started doing that with a clicker and a treat tonight and it has been working really well, thanks!
