Roll over is pretty easy. Just get her in a down position, say "roll over" and with the treat, slowly move it from her nose to back over her shoulders so her head follows it, and just bring it back around to the floor to encourage her to complete the roll. You may have to assist her a bit in the beginning, but with your persistence she'll catch on. Don't forget to give her a marker after ever trick like "yes" before giving her a treat. That way she knows she's done something right and a treat will soon be on the way. Good luck!

Great Tricks

Hi there -

Here are a few suggestions for fun tricks:

"Sleep" - I do this instead of the popular "Bang" (where the dog pretends to get shot and fall down - No thanks) The dog does the same thing, lies down on the ground and stays still. You can use any signal that you like, for example "Sleep" or "Youre getting Sleepy".

To teach: Begin in the "down" position then slowly shape the behavior so that the dog's head eventually lays down on the floor. Of course, use a hand signal and positive reinforcement. Techniques: Shaping/Bait-Lure, Positive Reinforcement, Verbal + Visual cues.

"Spin and Rewind" These are pretty easy - basically "spin" means spin in a circle and "rewind" means spin the opposite way.

To teach: Give the cue "Spin", lead the dog around, give the treat. Do this in the same direction every time. Once you have that down, teach the dog to do this in the opposite direction using the cue "Rewind". The hand action from baiting the dog to spin can become a hand signal. Techniques: Bait-Lure, Positive Reinforcement, Verbal + Visual cues.

Plenty more where that came from if you are interested! Good Luck!

Great Tips!

Thanks for all the great tips! I have never been good at teaching tricks and having so many now it would just be so hard to do. But I may try a couple of these!
Thanks
Bonnie
