Re: Puppy "play" biting

I wholeheartedly agree with Dogshrink's reply.
Advice that should be taken to heart.

Re: Puppy "play" biting

I have taken it to heart. I have cancelled the first set of lessons and sent Dogshrink a copy of an email from another school that does not advocate punishing or tough training.

Re: Puppy "play" biting

I am in Regina. I have actually trained quite a few dogs. But apart from my Golden Retriever who we had put down just over a year ago at 14, I have had mostly little dogs. Shih-tzus are hard to train. They aren't stupid - they are just stubborn and want to do what they want to do.

I think with the right type of class, Cooper will be a quick learner.

Of course, my son wants to have Cooper at his house all the time, but he recognizes that a four month old puppy cannot be left alone in the house for 12 hours. Once he gets a bit older, he can stay home and I will got over there at lunch time to let him out.

My son does not have a problem with Cooper. Most, if not all of my problems are caused by the fact that I have the three dogs.

Cooper gets over excited; Cooper jumps on my dogs; my dogs get ticked off and things go from bad to worse!!
