i have a rottweiler shepherd mix who will not stop barking. this is problematic barking. i live in a house and there are other people who live upstairs including another dog. my dog has been barking at just about any sound that comes from upstairs and at times she is barking at nothing at all. it is extremely annoying. we don't know what to do to stop this barking. we have tried a bark collar, a muzzle, treats, a spray bottle and other random ideas, none of which have worked. does anyone have any suggestions?

How much mental and physical exercise does this dog get every day? I suspect the dog is understimulated and all of this boredom/attention/alert barking gets attention. Even negative attention (getting sprayed, muzzled, etc.) is attention, so the behavior continues.
