Re: What Tricks?

In addition to the basic obedience cues, here's some fun things I've taught my SPoodles:

To find, and bring me:
My purse
My keys
The remote
The phone
My slippers
And many other things by name, or items I point to.

They help carry in the groceries from the car,
Put some of them away,
Toss the junk mail in the trash,
Take the garbage out to the back gate,
Feed the cat (not really - they'll get the cat food bag out've the cupboard),
Put their food bowl in the sink when done eating,
Do laundry.

Two of my four know their body parts! LOL (Right hip, left hip, etc.)

Give mama some sugar (kiss kiss).

Go to your room and shut the door (only two of them know this).

Walk sideways or back.

One does canine freestyle.

I took the pull rope off the 'fridge handle because my male was raiding, eating me out've house and home! LOL

I figured I'd just put his normal behaviors on cue so I could feel good about myself.
I'm feeling pretty good about myself, too. Poca's got the ignore command down pat. She also knows:

Sleep! (this one's amazing - almost needs no prompting at all)
Demand! (this for when she wants to demand we give her human food NOW)
GRRRRR! (for when she wants us to leave her alone when she's sleeping)

Re: What Tricks?

My Beagles know:

Sit
Down
Stay
Come
Watch me
Let's go (move on from sniffing)
Heel (we haven't practiced this much, we usually just walk loose leash)
Spin left
Spin right
High five on both sides
Shake paws on both sides
All in! (where they each put a paw on my clenched fist)
Sit pretty
Speak
Quiet
Close the door
Target a stick
Touch my finger
Back up
Car up
Car down
Go to bed
Go find
Hug
Take it
Leave it
Home (back to the laundry room where they sleep)
High ten
Figure 8
Wave
Go to mom/dad/jiejie ("jiejie" is me, means older sister)
Get ball/Kong/bone
Roll the ball (Spunky with her paw, Honey with her nose)
Cuddle (where they lie on top of something that I indicate, like a stuffed toy or a pillow)
Go under the bed

Re: What Tricks?

Bellie and Shadow both know...

Sit
Stay
Come
Down
this way (used mostly when off-leashing...means you don't have to come to me, but you need to follow in my direction)
Sit Up
Stop (...freeze/halt, don't take another step)
Shake
Speak
Touch (touch what ever object I point/gesture/signal to)
Heel/loose lead walking
Back Up
Circle (spin)
Watch me
Heel
Shut Up (we taught it as "quiet" but it slowly morphed into "shut up" they now respond to both, lol)
"Find the Cookies"
Get back
Wait
Lets Go
Go Home
Get out
Go to bed
Sic 'em (obviously not literally...just barking...but nonetheless, my dad "taught" (more like association) this one )
Go find...mommy/daddy/the puppy(neighbor dog)/the baby(term we use for gpig/cat/any other small furry)
Free (our release word)
Leave it
Away, Away (give me some space/get back/leave area)
Drop it
Out Front/Out Back (dif. between front door and back door)
Hop/hup
Clean-up (permission to eat whatever been dropped)
get over (get off of the street/driveway)

Its all that really comes to mind, there's probably a lot more though. I use so much of it so much in our daily common "language" (for lack of better term) I don't really even realize it anymore, lol.

Also some that are not known by both dogs...

Belle can...
do the "treat on the nose" thing
stand up (like from going from a down to standing)
Chill (down w/chin on the ground)
give kisses (...basically lick on command)

and Shadow can...
dance
take a bow
crawl
go find...tiger/snoopy/hedgehog/a few others... (names of toys)
