Back To Puppy Potty Training 101

I have had Keiko for a month now. And so far everything has gone pretty well. But I have noticed that she recently has started to have atleast one accident a day in the house. Now I also want to say she just went to the vet and nothing medically is wrong with her.

Now she is 6 months old. And was kind of dumped on me by a couple who saw my dog sitting ad. All I really know is she was a hyper terror in their home and stressed out their Chi mix especially.

Here with Sawyer to play with and three walks a day. She is a completely different dog.

I think she was never solidly potty trained in her previous home.

So now she is going outside every hour, after meals, and after play/sleep ect. Just as if she was a tiny puppy.

Oh joy lol.

Also remember that dogs don't really generalize when it comes to training. So even if she was solidly trained in her old house, it's no guarantee that she'd automatically be potty trained in yours.

Lol, good luck though. Potty training is always a fun stage

Re: Back To Puppy Potty Training 101

guyz a question,I've noticed that my puppy knows where to poo,but the pee thing is not working well.To me, I walk him/carry him every hour to pee in the same place, and if I tried to see if he will go by himself to pee the next hour,he wont!! he pee where he stands!!!
so is it me,the one who trained him in a wrong way(carry him every hour to pee)???
BTW I did this for the poo thing and worked.

Rocky...have you punished him for peeing in the house?
Has he ever peed outside for you? Do you REWARD him for peeing outside? Sometimes every hour is not enough, in the sense that if he already peed and then he played, had a nap, had a drink, had some excitement then he will need to go out to pee AGAIN. Body movement means bladder filling.....

You need to learn to anticipate the need, not allow him a lot of freedom in the house and when in doubt, take him out!

actually, I dont know how to punish him when he pees in the house
all what I do is put him in the place where he should pee and tell him again and again "piss here!!" is it right??
and ya he pees outside sometimes.
