House Training Troubles

Hi All,

I'm new the board, so a big hello to everyone!

I have a question, and I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience, or may have some thoughts as to what is going on with my dogs. I have a 2 year old German Shepherd/Doberman cross, and a 2 year old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix (I think). The other dog involved in this scenario is a 2 year old Aussie Shepherd mix. All 3 of these guys are house trained, and get along very well. Now here is where things get odd. The Aussie mix has a bad habit of occassionally wetting the floor. Not often, but she's become a bit notorious for this behavior. When my dogs go for a visit, it seems like they lose all sense of how to behave. My German will do what I know refer to as the "running river pee". He will run and urinate at the same time, leaving trails all over the house. My little dog will go nuts and urinate and sometimes even defecate. They only do this when they are left unattended at the other house. They do not exhibit any of this behavior when they are at my home. Does any one have some thoughts on why this is happening? It doesn't appear to be submission, and these dogs are let out regularly, and when let out, they do their business. Let me know what you guys think, this is too nuts for me.

Dogs are highly discriminating and do not readily generalize their experiences. So, if you want your dogs potty trained in another home, you have to resort to potty training as if they were pups, and just like you did in the first home. That means puppy proof enclosures when unsupervised, etc. Also, if the urinating is a frequent occurrence, please have your dogs checked by a vet for possible UTI.
