Remote Dog Collar Training System ???

I heard there is this " Remote Dog Collar Training System " any of you guys know how this works ? and does it really works on dogs ? I saw a couple of video on youtube.

anyway i have this 2 Dachshund and I want to walk them with around the block but I'm having problem coz they don't want to follow. just wondering if i used the the remote dog collar for a few days and removed it will the dog go back in his/her old way like not following I try to walk them on a using an ordinary collar ??

edit

one more thing i don't know if this is any good for the dog or not. i really have no idea.

When you say they don't want to follow, are they resisting the leash? There are good ways to train them in this without using a shock collar. Have a look at the Loose Leash Walking sticky: http://www.dogforums.com/3-dog-train...ing-using.html (Loose Leash Walking Using Positive Reinforcers)

I for one use a remote training when it is called for. But "Not" all dogs do great when it comes to using the remote collars. The remote collar is used mainly for a back up. The dog must really know what you are asking before using a remote collar. But I'm here to tell you that Dachshunds don't do good when it comes to using this type of training. I use a halter with my two Dachshunds.

well sometimes the resist walking on a leash and sometimes they get distracted very easily. about the loose leash walking yup i've read it. actually I'm using 2 kinds of collar one is on the neck and one on the body as seen on the picture. which is better ? or they are just the same.

I used a remote collar on my ESS only once and that was because he would chase the windshield wipers. My fear was him lunging across the dashboard while I was driving. I had to do something to avoid the danger of being forced off the road! It worked like a charm but I only use positive reinforcement training now.

I understand some people use it for training their dogs for hunting. The remote collar has a high pitched sound aside from the actual "zap" and the hunter can use the sound option to call the dogs in.

Personally if I had a doxie I would not use a shock collar especially to get them to follow you. I think it's too extreme for such little dogs. You can drop treats every few yards to get them to follow. Or, like I had to do with my Boston Terrier, pick him up and carry him the rest of the way home...lol

I use a remote collar on my amer. bullie only when he goes outside. He has a really bad habit of eating his poop. So whenever he turns to eat it, I buzz him. I tried going after him and yelling his name, and all it did was make him eat it faster. The collar works great for this.

Most of these devices work wit han electrical shock. Try it on yourself first to see what it will do to your dog. If that doesn't convince you not to use it, read this.
http://www.positivedogs.com/electronic_fencing.html

They work on the same basis as E fencing and electric bark collars.

FYI, I lost a dog to these 'training devices'

Actually many hunters have quite using this method. The only application I would even consider it would be snake avoidance. You WANT them to have afearful reaction to snakes

Most hunter around me still use the e-collar when hunting. There is nothing wrong in using the e-collar when it used in the right hands and the right way. No two dogs are alike. It should not be used on a puppy or an adult dog that doesn't understand what you are asking of it. I also would not use it on a small breed dog. And not all e-collars are the same.
