Most of these devices work wit han electrical shock. Try it on yourself first to see what it will do to your dog. If that doesn't convince you not to use it, read this.

I understand some people use it for training their dogs for hunting. The remote collar has a high pitched sound aside from the actual "zap" and the hunter can use the sound option to call the dogs in.
Personally if I had a doxie I would not use a shock collar especially to get them to follow you. I think it's too extreme for such little dogs. You can drop treats every few yards to get them to follow. Or, like I had to do with my Boston Terrier, pick him up and carry him the rest of the way home...lol |
Actually many hunters have quite using this method. The only application I would even consider it would be snake avoidance. You WANT them to have afearful reaction to snakes
