whining and scratching

I started trying to get my 2 fighting chi's to learn to sleep in their doggy bed, I have 1in the living room with a baby gate, and 1 in my bedroom with his bed, they have always slept with me, and now I am trying to break them from it, one scratches and whines at the door to get in my room, the other just whines to get on my bed, I don't want to give in but I do need to get some sleep, wouldn't have to do this if the chi's would stop fighting with each other. it is territorial dominance, I had the 4 yr old neutered Friday, and the 2 yr old will be done tomorrow, I don't want to give my dogs mixed signals or get them confused, but how can I stop this. I am really trying.Blackie

You have two male chi's?

I know that for malamutes, you're invredibly lucky if you get two of the same sex to be together in harmony as they tend to always fight for dominance. However a male and female of the malamutes together is a friendly loving companionship...

Is this something new? I ask because they are 2 and 4, but I don't know how long you've had either of them.

Re: whining and scratching

I had the father since he was 2 1/2, and his son since he was born, they always got along, then the son became an adult, then the fighting started, they both want to be the alpha, but their learning that I am the alpha, father was neutered 10 days ago, son will be done tomorrow, maybe this will take some of the aggression away, plus I am starting the aggressive one in a group class.
