Play Barks

Hi, my lhasa apso has recently started taking on this trait where when he gets excited or wants to play he will start barking at me. When I tell him no, he barks back and this will go on for about 5 mins. or so till I can calm him down. When I try to get close to him he runs the other direction like he's trying to play chase. He thinks it's a game. How do I get him to understand that we don't like what he is doing? It's like fighting with a teenager that keeps saying no... no... no... Thanks for the advice in advance!

Re: Play Barks

The article on barking is good but, it doesn't address the underlying problem. He wants some interaction with you...some attention...some affection. He's trying to engage in a game of chase or doing something with you but, apparently you'd rather not do that.
