| More tricks!! OK, this may seem silly, but I need more trick ideas! Cooper knows sit, shake (both paws back and forth as many times as I ask), wave, down, roll over, speak, twist (in a circle), back up, leave it (I put him in a down stay and put treats on both of his paws and make him wait for release), we are working on circling around me, and I guess that is it. What other tricks can I teach him? He loves working through these during training and picks up on new commands very quickly, and next week (Monday night) in class our trainer promised a reward of Swiss chocolate (she is from Switzerland) to the handler whose dog can do the most tricks. I want that chocolate!! LOL Any ideas for some more fun tricks for Coop?? |

| Re: More tricks!! The only ones I can think of are:
"belly" the dog rolls on his back for you to rub his/her belly
I do one where I use my thumb and index finger to make a gun, then go "pow" like I shot my dog. Then he rolls on his back like he's dead.
I guess there's "high five," but that's kind of like "shake." |

| Re: More tricks!! Hahaha Inga!! Silly girl.
Hmmm there is "stand", either from a sit or down. You could figure-8 him through your legs (if he'll fit LOL). "Touch" where he (obviously) touches various items. "Take a bow" or whatever you want to call it where he is in a play bow position.
I'm not much help - I always revert back to things we use in obedience or agility. |

| Re: More tricks!! I think a dog taking a bow is so cute. I just taught my nine year old Toy Poodle to bow recently which was a bit of a challenge, since he thought I was asking for a down and he starts by dropping his haunches. He's got it now and his verbal cue is "Ta Da!" |

| Re: More tricks!! Jumping straight up into the air is really cute.
Paw targeting with one or both paws (put paws on a specific item or place) can be really cute (and useful for taking photos, LOL)
Indy can sit up on his haunches, which is ADORABLE with short stumpy legs.
Um... I'm running low on ideas, actually. :P |

Thanks to everyone for suggestions and ideas! We have a lot of work to do! |

beg, sit up on back legs
dance, stand on back feet with his paws in your hands, plus walking eventually
hide, cover face with a paw
bow, as others have said
touch, touch object with paw
back, walk backwards.
bell, ring a bell on a string
thats all i can think of right now |

| Re: More tricks!! Crawl forward and backward. Put your head down when laying down. Sneeze [NO], speak [YES] as cues to questions asked. Back in a circle. Circus elephant - front feet on stool and walk around stool. Take off the human's socks. Turn the light on and off. Put your toys away. |
