| No no no!! Ok please someone tell me how to stop Romeo from eating. . . YES EATING my socks and underwear. Hes pulling them from the hamper and destoying all the socks and undies he can, first it was just mine now its everyones. I even moved the hamper but my cat is a sock thief and pulls them out the drawers and then he takes them. He has plenty of toys and bones but still goes for the socks and underwear and its costing alot to replace. Please if anyone has any tips that would be great |

| Re: No no no!! Place socks and under wear (either in hamper or in drawers) on one side of door. Place dog/cat on other side of door. Shut door......
I have the cats from hell that can open anything and everything. I never leave the dog alone with the cats loose... Oh that would just not be worth coming home to. I have child proof latches and bungee cords on just about every door and drawer in the house.
When I go to work for the day the dog is downstairs in the crate (no cats are allowed donw there.. they would let her out I am sure).
If I forget to child lock and bungee cord things (especially the kitchen) I come home to what looks like a burglary scene. Real Cat buglars. Have you ever found active dry yeast spread from one end of the house to the other (Oliver had gas for a day or two!).
The cats and the dog have trained me to keep stuff they get into out of reach... |

| Re: No no no!! Im looking for a new crate. . . Well used really, he grew to fast on me in the middle of me not having alot of money and now that i have some extra i had to go replace things. So if anyone is in pittsburgh has 1 for sell i would love you lol. He has a habit of grabbing them so i can see him and when i do and try to get it off him he runs under furniture and engulfs it or something. Hes very sneeky and with his sharp teeth it only takes 1 chew. The hampers are all in my daughters room where hes not aloud but when i open the door he runs in like a nija and out with his prize. I told my bf i would rather deal with poop on the floor |

| Re: No no no!! Baby gates. And not the pass through kind.
Pick up the socks (and get your daughter to do the same). He can't ninja them if they just aren't present.
Put the hampers in the closet and close the closet door.
Teach the dog some manners. "Wait" would be useful for making him slow down at an open door. "Stay" would keep him in the doorway of a room until you released him.
This seems like a management issue to me. Just figure out a container to put socks in that the dog can't get to! |

| Re: No no no!! Keep an eye out at the local humane society or rescues. Many have used crates in great shape that they can sell you. And it's much cheaper too. |

| Re: No no no!! Puppy...go to craigslist. Good luck. Enlist your daughter to help you make your home a Ninja Puppy proof house...if she's old enough. It will help you and her at the same time. |

| Re: No no no!! There are a couple of reasons why he's ignoring his own toys and going after your undies and socks.
First of all, the undies and socks smell like his favourite people -- you and your family! Whenever he's unsupervised, no one is playing with him and feeling alone, he goes and grabs one of these things and chews it up. The more he chews, the better he feels.
Second of all, every time he grabs one of these things, everyone starts making a ruckus and paying attention to him. He even gets chased around, which is one of his favourite games.
My guess is that he started going after these objects for the first reason, and after awhile the second one started to reinforce the behaviour.
You definitely need to crate him when he's unsupervised so that he can't grab these things. I would also recommend this sticky: http://www.dogforums.com/19-first-ti...ppy-needs.html (Why your puppy needs a TOY BOX) |

Should i start sleeping with his toys so it gets my scent? |

| Re: No no no!! all I can say is keep the stuff out of reach/access etc.
I just lost another bra to my dog yesterday. We were cleaning out the walk in closet and I left the door open. I saw the dog come trotting out with a guilty look on his face and went in to discover the remnants of my bra on the bed. *sigh*
He must have ruined at least 10 bras by now. |

| Re: No no no!! Everyone has given excellent advice so far!
When I was at school Linkin got into the habit of chewing through the ends of my socks.. I was living in a pull trailer so not much storage space to keep things like laundry out of reach, and because he was with me nearly 24/7 I doubt it was an attention thing (though that's what it sounds like in your case )... My mom actually had to send me a care package of socks! lol
I became very adament about keeping the socks out of his reach and eventually the problem slowed and decreased. It took MONTHS and a lot of socks gone to sock heaven, but I can now leave socks out on the floor around him with no problems, I think it was something he had to just grow out of.
Puppies CHEW, and they will chew a specific object especially if they've learned they get some kind of pleasure out of it.
Keeping the socks and underwear out of his reach is a must at this point, and teaching him to wait at doorways will keep him from not only being a ninja, but I believe is something every dog should know to prevent them from bolting out the front door! |

| Re: No no no!! He is with me most of the time but he is a velcro pup so i guess when im not around my socks and undies are next best thing. I let him have my bed sheet i took off the bed and it seems to help him feel better and he rolls up in it. Im going to call the shelters about used crates aswell since hes almost big enough to jump over the gates |

| Re: No no no!! Good luck. My thrift stores often have crates. Make sure you know how much crates cost before buying a used one and know what size you need! My thrifts sometimes have outrageous prices on stuff.
Maxwell adores socks but he hasn't a cat to help him get into drawers. That is a tough one. |
