Started clicker training with Mesquite today...

...and I am HOOKED!

I started that free online clicker training class that Curbside posted. I just worked on charging the clicker today, but even that was way more fun than I expected. The look that came over Mesquite's face when she finally realized what the clicker noise meant was hilarious. It was like "Aha! I knew it - it does mean food!"

The next lesson has me working with a target stick. I'm assuming you can use just about anything...she already knows how to "touch" my index finger. This is going to be fun

That's great! How has she been doing? All healthy again, right?

We have been having fun with clicker training recently too. I can't wait to see what all we can do!

We are on the same lesson! I signed up for the free online class as well. Eddie, my Lab, is a breeze...However, Uallis, my Mastiff,....its taking awhile. He's so bloody stubborn. hahaha

Wishing us both luck!!

Well, she's on her fourth round of antibiotics in three months...but she's at 58-59 pounds now, so she's definitely improving. Her ear infection is clearing up, and her coat is looking much better. So, once we get this chronic fever issue solved, she'll be set. I hope. I don't have much room left on that Carecredit card

Mdawn, you'll have to tell me how the next lesson goes once you get there. The target training work sounds like a lot of fun, and after reading Elana's "Herding Rabbits" post, I've started thinking about how I can use similar methods to help Mesquite gain more self-control. She's getting better, but there's definitely room for improvement. She's stubborn, too
