Normal puppy behavior or SA?

So i have had Romeo just over 4wks now and he is pretty good untill i go over the baby gate. It doesnt matter if its for 1min to grab a drink or an hr to sort clothes, he whines and barks. Ive tried a stern NO and ignoring him but nothing works and its a bit nerve wrecking when im trying to do something. And its real bad when i leave the house, i can hear him at the end of my building(i live in a apt complex and dont want mad neighbors) He doesnt tear things up and doesnt intentionally mess on the floor when im on the "other side" just barks. . . I think i could deal with anything else. Is this normal puppy stuff(hes 11wks old) or not?

That sounds very normal - and its very important that he does not learn that behaving like that "works" - that it gets attention. Saying "no" to him is also attention and he probably does not understand what you want him to do. Its better to ignore him completely when he is behaving like that.

Yep, sounds normal. Roe used to scream when I left the house, especially if I was leaving with Mac with me. She would cry until I came back. She is okay with being alone now. Make sure you ignore the behavior (not even saying no...as pointed out, that's still attention). Be consistent
