# 2 problems

We have a young daschund, less than a year old. We have a lot of land here on my place with a lot of field and yard. The dog will not go # 2 anywhere except under the covered patch of concrete where we park our vehicles. I really need to figure out a way to either attract him to somewhere with grass or or a way to keep him from going on the concrete. We all lead busy lives and really dont have time to train him. I was thinking something like vinegar on the concrete would have worked, but it didnt. Please help.

Training a dog does not have to take up a whole lot of your time. Really, just a few minutes a day, over time, makes a difference. And, IMO, is not really an option, but as necessary as feeding and taking to the vet. It's just part of having a dog, teaching him/her the basics of how to fit into your household. Makes for much more enjoyment by all, dog and humans.

If it were me, I would take him out on a leash to the area where you want him to eliminate, and wait for him to go there. You could also take some of the poop from the concrete area when you pick it up, and put it in the place where you want him to go.

But I would definitely use a leash and take him to the spot of your choice.

Re: # 2 problems

Just a thought, I would prefer to have my dogs go on concrete.
1. Easier to keep clean and sanitary. Poop Scooper and small covered garbage can with bag inside and a lid. Can be hosed off and also a mixture of clorox and water will keep it spotless and sanitary. You also don't have to worry so much about poop elimination on other areas which would even help keeping flies down etc. I think scopping poop on concrete is a lot easier than cleaning grass/ground areas.(unless you weren't going to bother with that) You also do not have to worry about other strange dog's poop which can carry a multitude of problems (if the outside grass/ground areas isn't fenced.)
2. During any rain etc, might help with muddy footprints in home/rugs etc.
3. I realize while going to your vehicle there's a possibility of stepping on something, but it would take all of 10 seconds to clean up after a Doxie.
As I said just a thought.
