Unhappy Dogs Fighting :(

Looking for some help here. I've had dogs of all shapes and sizes and thought I was pretty savvy on dog behavior but this time I'm stumped.
Right now I have 3 dogs, 2 of them female, 1 male. The male is not the problem. The 2 females are Lucy, 12 years old, white Siberian Husky/Shepard mix and Maggie, 8 years old, brown, breed really unknown. We think she probably has some border collie and shepard in her. She's a pound rescue. She definitely has the herding instinct and is very, very smart and energetic. They are all fixed.

These two have gotten along well for years. Only recently as Lucy has gotten older and weaker. She has recently gone deaf, Maggie is trying to assert dominance and will attack Lucy, unprovoked. We seperate them for a while then let them back together and they are usually O.K. but sometimes their fighting gets so ferocious its scary. Last week I seperated them from a fight only this time I got bit, pretty badly in the wrist. I've gotten the necessary treatment but before someone else gets hurt or they really hurt each other I was wondering if anyone out there has any advise/suggestions for me. Thanks.

There are a lot of options, but one of the immediate ones, for now - is a crate and rotate schedule until you can get the dogs behavior under control.

In the meantime, there are great links with info at the detailed site index of this website:

Honestly it's almost impossible to stop two females from fighting. You need to keep them COMPLETELY separated. The more they fight the worse it will get. Get a behaviorist or trainer that is used to working with this type of aggression to help you as you will need professional intervention

That's excatly what's happening, Maggie senses Lucy is having problems and is trying to take over. You might try the squirting the hose on them when they fight. I wouldn't let them be together unsupervised.
