Been to the vet recently? While he should be calmer than he was, 5 years is just entering middle age, and if he's slowed down a lot, a vet visit ASAP is in order.

He probably isn't playing because he doesn't feel well. Have you had him checked by your vet?

Re: I want to get back my dog...

As said above, if the dog has ceased to play, it may be due to a medical condition. Please have him checked.

After he has been checked and the vet says there is nothing wrong (obesity, illness, fever, parasites, heart and lungs are OK, blood work is fine, not arthritic etc.) come on back if he still will not play with you! We have all sorts of ideas!

It would help if you could tell us what games he's not playing. As everyone says if he's not running, jumping, chasing or fetching things (and he used to do those things) then, he might have a medical problem.
Has he gained weight or is overweight? Even a few pounds over-weight can slow down a dog significantly.

A poor diet can also cause lethargy. What is he eating?

Hmmm...a tibetan that is so calm? I would be atleast considering a vet check (including a full blood panel), and perhaps a change in diet...

After a short period of time of someone being gone, a dog should bounce back and come back to his normal routine.

He may also be bored with his toys, especially if you leave them out all the time. Try putting them away, and only taking them out when you want to play with them.
