My puppy is almost 12 weeks old, and I'd like to start taking her for short walks. I know that walking on a leash has to be taught, but how do I teach her how to do it. I have a puppy training book (a pretty worthless one) that teaches about how to make sure they don't go faster than you, but not about making her not wander in other directions, or not go at all, etc.

Chloe is used to the leash for potty breaks, but that's about it. From that experience with her, I can safely say that a walk is going to be quite an experience, LOL!

Any tips on teaching her how to walk on a leash?

I would just try going for a wak and see how it goes. It's not that complicated of a thing for the dog to get used to.

Try it out, and update us afterwards.

Get a shorter leash, to keep her right by you, and teach her the word "heel" and practice that over and over again. Make sure to bring treats, and use lots of praise.
