| excited peeing? My 10 month old boston terrier, Beemer, gets VERY excited when people (mostly new people but sometimes people who have been here before) come over. He gets so excited that he sometimes pees on people or by their feet. Our trainer said he will grow out of it, but I have also heard that some dogs dont grow out of it. I have tried puting him into his crate when someone comes in and letting them get seated and him settling down, and then when we let him out we walk him up to the person to let them greet him but he still pees. Its not a lot of pee just a little squirt or two, but still annoying. I dont want to have him in his crate the whole time people are over, I want him to be able to greet people and be ok with it. Its not a submissive pee either it seems because he is usually just REALLY excited and it just comes out (and then he gets submissive and his ears go back because he knows he isnt supposed to). He is neutered, he was neutered at 5 months, he has been doing this before he got neutered too.
I feel bad telling him no, or anything because I know he doesnt mean to do it and it seems like he just cant help himself. So my question is should I be telling him that its a bad thing, or not? and also is there anything that I can do to stop this, or even just curb it? As of right now when people come in we kind of just warn people (lol thank goodness our friends arent too offended by it, but if we have people that are older then us - we are 19, say like my parents or something, they might not be so understanding and I wouldnt blame them).
thank you for all the help |
