Please help, I have read everything on bite inhibition and have been saying ouch , turning my back, leaving the room etc.. I have put peanut butter on my hands to teach kissess , he still is niblbling hard on myself and my kids.

what am I doing wrong or are there other methods I could try?

Is it because he is only 10 weeks that he doesn't get it??

For the bell to potty train, he thinks it is a toy and pounces on it and attacks it and just has a grand old time with out, How do I know the difference from play vs I have to go?

I would lose the bell and just take the dog outside at FREQUENT intervals. At ten weeks, HE doesn't even know when he has to go. Once he has the urge, it's already to late to alert you, even if he wanted to.

Some people have good success with the bell, once the dog has some basic idea of going outside. Personally, I hate bells because it remains a toy and attention-getter for many dogs long after they are house-trained.

You are absolutely right My dogs were taught to ring the bell (but I didn't get them until they were 16 wks). Does she ring the bell once in a while because she wants to go outside and eat snow? Yup. And my previous one would ring the bell go out and lay in the sun
But I can handle that. I don't think Breezey has had an accident after the second or third week I got her.

He's still a puppy - give it time. Charlie wouldn't respond to any of the traditional methods either - "ouch!", turning away, leaving the room, etc. I would actually be dragging him out of the room attached to my pant leg when I tried to leave the room,LOL! Have you tried Bitter Apple? We used that a lot, but you have to keep reapplying it as one it dries it loses its effectiveness. Be patient and keep doing what you've been doing - it will get better.

As for the bell, I would think he's too young yet. Like Ron said, just keep taking him outside at very frequent intervals and praising him for going potty.

You've gotten some good advice here. Hang in there. Your puppy is just young. It takes consistency, but one day you'll realize...hey, they get it. My two just stopped the biting one day...and now they don't. They'll get it.

Potty training - frequent intervals outside (every 2 hours at 10 weeks is what I would do). The school of thought is for every month they can go that many +1 hour. For example, a puppy is two months old (like yours) they can hold it 3 (2+1) hours. Now, that's if you have to leave and they are crated or in their place. Otherwise, you need to take them out after a nap, during and right after play, just after eating....and THEN ALSO every two hours if you are there. As they grow, increase the interval in small intervals (don't go from 2 to 3 hours....increase by half hour intervals). Some will let you know when they need to go out..some won't. I have one of both!

This is how I did it, I'm not a professional...but the month + 1 hour is pretty standard info. Good luck!

Excellent advice.....I never let them out of your sight....if you are not watching them, I kennel.....I love puppies.....I didn't get that with Willie.....

As for the bell......well, we still see no interest from Willie....I have to just try it....it was a gift. he is a year and a half.....
