Unhappy Basement Pooping

Howdy-

We've had our Dalmation for 10+ years... She has her moments like sneaking around for food but has always been extremely well house trained and NEVER had accidents. She lives inthe basement when we are not around or eating etc. and comes to the main floor with us at night after dinner... Within the last few months she was sick and had diareha... After some Vet time and medicine this cleared, but ever since then she has been "pooping" in the basement since then... We've tried to send her out in time with eating to avoid this, but so far no luck... How do we break this aweful habit???? (currently she has the run of the basement- we have not tried to Kennel her in any way)

Thanks abd God bless
Mike and Jen

Kenneling a dog is not cruel. Confining it to a basement, is.

It doesn't sound like a habit, it sounds like anothe rmedical issue. Take the dog back to the vet, and say "This hasn't cleared up, and it's getting worse. What can we do?" And the vet will probably be able to help you.

She may not be able to control it, as she is an elderly dog.
