I truly hope that it works out well for the safety of both dogs!.
With yr dog being aggressive with other dogs and you bringing in, an adult dog of the same sex,is risky but I'm sure you're aware of that!.
For the 1st mths,I wouldn't leave them alone, just to be,on the safe side and take all toys and bones away to avoid any potential problems.I would also feed them, both,in separate rooms!.Do keep us posted,Laurie.
???

I'm totally confused. Read below....... We did NOT get the other dog....

So she's looking at beginning the training process, and doing herding trials, as there's a place near them that she's already taken her to for an instinct test, and she passed with flying colors. It was a really big decision for her, and I told her to take all the time she needs to think about it and to not feel rushed. So she decided to keep her.

Sorry miss the post!.
When you do bring another dog, home!.I would get a male instead of female and a puppy is usually easier for an older dog to get use to than adult dog!.

Well, I wouldn't say the Border Collie was an adult dog at only 8 months old. As for a 2nd dog, I have looked at some males, but if I happen to find one I want and it's female, I'll still get her. And it's all in how you have them meet as well, I mean, I had 2 female boxers and Betty eating out of the same hand at the same time, all 3 noses in my hand. So it can be done.

Re: Question on bringing 2 dogs together...

Well, to put an end to this thread, most of you already know I finally got Nell, the female Border Collie. They are doing awsome together, and if you haven't seen the thread yet, check my thread over in the Pictures area on Nell. But anyways, I had purchased the DVD set called Constructional Aggression Treatment - Shaping your way out of Aggression. CAT for short. I used this technique with Betty and Nell, and the results were fantastic. They are now inseparable, and Betty actually shares EVERYTHING with Nell. Very good DVD set for those interested. And here's a pic that shows the result......
