Ughh I cant do it anymore

Okay so they both do fine during the day.

I take them out to the dog park just now (11:15 pm) another dog was in there, so we waited. Kody saw the other dog, and was fine, I kept telling him quiet and he kept quiet.

So then the dog goes inside and we start to walk towards the park...and Kosy starts running and HOWLING his head off. And he has the type of beagle bay that makes it sound like I am sawing through his skull... We get to the park, and he starts frantically running around in circles screaming his head off. He squats to poop- still screaming. He runs around more- still screaming. I cant catch him for the life of me, but finally he stops. I catch him and pick him up and we wait for Chance to finish- but- NOPE, Chance hops the fence and starts wandering through the parking lot.

I am at my witts end with these two. They do fine during the day, but at night is a WHOLE new story. I dont know what to do. Kody loves dogs, and he plays with them SO nice, but he just acts like a maniac here!! HELP!

I would think about letting them out there one at a time so its not so overwhelming, i would also keep them on a long line so you have that control and can correct them when they don't come to you, and praise as soon as they do. As for the screaming...i would have one of those little bottles of lemon juice with me, as soon as the dog started to do that, he would get a squirt in his mouth and i would say "quiet". That is what i used on my Sheltie for his constant barking, worked quite well. Though once in a while i will see this method used, and the dog likes the lemon juice...but usually they do not care for it, lol.

I'd have to agree here. One at a time until they are more manageable and a long line.

It will get better... keep repeating... it will get better....

Pure lemon juice or diluted?

I will def try that. I just hope I don't get his eyes. But do I open his mouth and spray it in? I'd keep my mouth shut if someone spryaed something sour in it everytime I opened!

This only happens at night- in the AM I take them out together, and they do FINE. It's daytime, they just woke up and aren't FULL of energy. But MAN- at night it gets bad. But I will work on the lemon juice thing, that may work. I don't mind walking around with them during the day when i can see but not everyone picks up after their dogs, (I do EVERY time,) so at night I can't walk around with them.

It will get better....It will get better....It will get better....It will get better....

It sounds to me like they're not gettnig enough exercise OR mental stimulation. Can you sign up for an agility class one or two nights a week? Got Buster Cubes and Kongs? I'd do more training during the early evening and try and get out some of the goofies learning tricks. Keep it really positive and fun (I'd actually make it an exercise in pure shaping, don't bother phasing out treats, but try and get past luring stages if you MUST lure) and interesting- I might intersperse treat food (food but tasty food- natural balance rolls, frozen biljac, etc) for half their meals and feed it to them during training sessions.

I use pure lemon juice, i do open the dogs mouth and squirt a little in, you have to be quick about it though, otherwise they might not associate the screaming and the correction of the lemon juice. Good luck, keep us posted!

First of all, this is very aversive, and totally inappropriate in this case. This dog is a Beagle, and he was only doing what Beagles do! They howl and are very, very vocal, which is what they were bred to do.

I was just giving another suggestion, if one of my dogs were making so much noise that i was disrupting the neighborhood and were looking at possible fines, ect...i would be trying all different methods until i found the right one. Shelties bark A LOT...that is what they do, but i certainly wasn't going to allow it for many reasons.
