Post FOXY owners need a couple advices plz

Hey ive already posted on here before about my dogs agression problems, i did NILIF training and at first it made it worse! much worse! he will be agressive to anything ! and literally attacking me for nothing. but now it is much and much more piecful than before training,he lets to pick him up move him do whatever i want, gets off the bed from the first time i tell him and maybe would have a lil drowl over something but straight away starts licking and sucking up,he is much more submissive and eager to please.

Still got a couple problems, he somehow manages to escape from the backyard, and wonders around, although coming when hes called. how to stop him from walking away? he doesnt purposely run away to escape but he will just sniff around and wonder away especially if someone forgets to close the gate. even though hes been there before and he knows exactly whats outside the gate. thats problem number 1.

number 2: he is a year and almost 3 months old and he still chews, actually he never had a chewing problem but just started chewing mums expensive shoes! and dads. when we come home he hides coz knows hes guilty. but does it over and over if we forget to put a shoe away, how do i stop this? i heard that foxies have baby teeth until the age of 2 and only after that they have adult teeth.

and number 3 just a lil problem,he always jumps on my mum, always, she will be standing talking to me and he will be jumping on her constantly, she will say no and i will say no to him but he will keep jumping on her and almost pushing her over and giving her a sore side! how do we let him know that he shouldnt do that? When he jumps on me il say no and he iwll stop.

please just need a lil advice on these couple problems to make our and our il dogs life good and piecful hes so clever and lovely though once we got rid of biting problem, hes always so cute and submissive with his ears down and to the back and waggy tail ah..

anyway thanx for reading

When he is jumping on you or your mom, you need to simply ignore him and turn away. Say nothing to him, just walk away. You are acknowledging him even when you say "no", so that is why he continues. With your mom, he obviously does not see her as any sort of pack leader, and thus the reason why he is even more persistent.

To keep him from wandering, make sure he is inside when you know someone is going to be coming home, or through the gate, or keep an eye on the gate when he is out there...that is the only way to prevent that one.

As far as the shoes; what kind of chew toys does he have free access to? I would get some Kong toys that you could fill with Peanut butter and small bones, and freeze before you leave, and then give it to him when you do leave; that should keep him occupied for a while! Make sure he also has other 'chew options' available such as Nylabones as well. When you are home, you could give him raw bones too. And just make sure to double check to make sure there are no shoes in access to him!

#1 Put locks on the gates so they can't be left open
#2 Put the shoes away or keep a closer on Axl
#3 Stop talking and walk away from him. When your dog is jumping and you start talking to him, you're cheerleading, making him jump more. It would be different if he understood "NO!" but, he obviously doesn't.

he understands no but not when it comes to mum.. yea well its real hard to always keep an eye on him, he just wonders off. i do of course look after him as much as i can but sometimes he is outside with my partner and he forgets about him coz busy with the car. he is never far away and when called is coming but still. who knows whats outsied the gate.

yea hes got plenty of toys, rubber toys, bones, raw bones, all sorts of things. but it will take him 5 minutes away from my eyes and he will go and chew a shoe. lil bugger. like that time i was in the bathroom ,came out and he already chewed mums shoe! fast! about when im not home he never really does nething just sleeps..

If "No" is not working with your mother then she needs to move up to something more drastic. In some cases, even "no" counts as giving attention to the dog, so it might help for your mother to just turn and walk away. If she is talking to you, both of you can walk away to reinforce that he's not going to get any attention by jumping.

And when you say "he already knows what's outside the gate"... well, maybe to you. To you, it's just the same old bush, the same old mailbox, the same old road. To him, there are hundreds of new smells that have emerged there since his last visit from other animals marking on it, from other people brushing against it, etc. It's not really just the same old experience. If I were you, I would just try to keep him confined. To ask him to stay away from the incredibly interesting sights and smells just ahead of him, 100% of the time, is asking for quite a bit. You never really know when a cat might run by or something like that.
