Dog Agility

I really want agility. But, Pheobie might not be right? She is a 7 year old, 9 inch tall, 7 pound, poodle mix. Do you think 7 years old is to old? She is very active. She is very in shape. She runs next to my bike 5 times a week. Goes for a normal nice walk the other 2. she is also very obedient and herds rabbits (To long to Explain).

Re: Dog Agility

7 years definately isn't too old to start training- especially if you're mstly interested in having fun. (It's a bit old to start if you're looking for a top competitor, but for fun? Definately not!)

Re: Dog Agility

I am not looking to compete. It just sounds like so much fun and I know pheobie would love it if she was able too. I just had concerns about her age. She acts like she is 2 so its no problem with her jumping, I have a basket the she loves to jump in the back yard so we jump this basket like 20 times a day because Pheobie wants to jump it.

Re: Dog Agility

If she is healthy and has her basic obedience down, then go for it! Agility is a fun bonding experience for both dog and handler!!!

Re: Dog Agility

You can surely go for agility as you are saying that your dog is so active and very nice in shape, and very fast in running.Agility is specially intended for your kind of dogs.

Re: Dog Agility

She is almost a week into training and has almost mastered the Dog Walk! She can do it off leash for most of the Dog walk. She has gotten better at the Weave Polls and my jumps have 5 different levels and she has gotten to the point where she does level 2.
We practice anywhere between 30 minutes-2 hours a day. Of course with breaks though! She loves it so much! To keep her in shape we go for 30 minute runs 5 times a week and she loves those too.
