Crate Training 10 Weeek Old Boxer

Hello all, I just brought home a 10 week old male boxer puppy, he seems great, when I put him in the crate (to pick him up from the breeder) he barked for about 3 minutes and then stopped, it was a long drive, i let him out to stretch and for some water about an hour later. I got him home he started walking around the house and peeing everywhere, has not pooped yet, I put a bowl with food (what he currently eats) and some water, he never touched it, he did not pee again (only urinated for the first 15 mins) I kept him out and played with him for a few hours and then around 8:30 pm put him in my office with a small alarm clock on with soft music, he seemed to like that in the car and in the office, he is in the crate currently only barked and cried for a few mins (10 mins) and havent heard a peep from him in 30 minutes. Please give me any tips and or information about potty training, should I keep him in the crate at night in the office with the nightlight??? I have a huge fenced in back yard, what I am trying to get him to do is to have him scratch at that door and let him out to go the bathroom, any and all help is deeply appreciated.

Smile

When he's not being watched 110% of the time, he should be crated. Everything including food, water, play, potty time, etc. must be strictly scheduled. It's just like having a baby in the house. Take him out to where you want him to potty roughly every couple hours and definitely after eating, drinking, playing and immediately upon awakening. Take him out at least once and probably twice during the night for at least the next couple weeks.

When you take him to his area, walk back and forth with him, repeating a word or phrase, such as "get busy," over and over until he finishes his business. Then praise him. By repeating the same word/phrase before and during the time he's doing his business eventually he''' learn to go on command.

Congratulations on your new puppy.

MOst definalty if you cant watch him crate him or teather him (put a leash on the dog and attach it to yourself) he will eventually get used to his crate, its all new for him, Gypsy is 7 months and she still has accidents in her crate if Im gone for a while, she has always been a full of pee type dog no infections she just pees alot. but her poop schedule is now normal

Good luck and post pics when you can I love the look of boxers especially puppies
