Unhappy All out of ideas n going nuts!

I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. I did not plan on the 3rd dog but I figured she was so small how much trouble could she be.. d'uh to me!
Shawnee is a 2 year old poodle mix. She has been with us since she was a puppy. For the first 7-9 months she never barked except during play and was pretty good except for food stealing. She is spayed and up to date on shots and she loves her "brother" my 3 year old Golden and is tolerated by my 9 year old Collie mix.
Our problem is two-fold. One: she started barking and now she barks for most noises and does not stop if you clap your hands, shake a can of pennies at her, squirt her with water and etc. When you play with my Golden she barks the entire time and grabs his back leg and will not leave him alone. If you remove her from the area she barks and tries to go right back. You cannot play with them at the same time since she is attached to his leg and he lets her get away with it.
The other problem which I find truly ick is: I would do laundry. I would have one load in the washer and a dirty clothes hamper on the floor with the next load waiting to be washed. She would go in the hamper take out underwear and chew the crotches out. So I changed the way I do laundry. Problem NOT solved. She now goes and sneaks upstairs while we are sleeping and goes into the bathroom trash and takes out used tissues or my persoanl favorite used sanitary napkins. It is wonderful to wake up to a bunch of pink plastic and shredded pad all over the living room floor. She knew she was not allowed upstairs and never went until I cut her off from underwear. Upstairs is the cat area. Freedom from dogs, no litter box snackers and etc. I can baby gate her from upstairs until my husband whacks his ankle or whatever gets annoyed and takes it down so we can get into the "gate wars" again. But I would rather fix her problem than cut her off.
Oh yes she gets daily exercise, has a ton of toys and room to roam.
Thank you for any advice you may have

For getting into the waste basket - put it up or away out of her reach and give her a stuffed kong to work on in the evening or confine her to a crate, x-pen or gate her off in a single room during the night so she doesn't have the opportunity to get into things.

The barking is only a problem during play or all the time?

Hi Sweetie!!

First off take a deep breath and enjoy your new baby"s inventiveness!! She wouldn't be doing this stuff if she was stupid.

For the getting in the trash can try using black pepper in the can which will cause some discomfort and sneezing and may stop her. If not you can go to treating something (a used tampon maybe) with liquid soap. I'll bet she learns how to blow bubbles quick!!!

As for the aggression with the other dog during play time I would seriously enroll her in an obedience course and get your stays solid. Then incorporate the training to stop her when you are playing with the other dog.

One of the things we really stress with a dog that is aggressive is a "break" command. It's a total stop action command. Use the word you choose, break, out, stop, whatever and have your dog stop and look at you. The first time you do it simply say "Dog's name and break" in a commanding tone of voice. The dog will probably stop and look at you so praise right away. Enforce the word as a time to stop action and then when you get to playing use it to stop her again. Do your initial training totally alone and then incorporate the other dog.

Probably this dog is really intelligent as well as being loving and needs plenty to keep her mind occupied. Again teach her basic obedience and everyone will benefit. Then get a little creative yourself and figure out what she can help you with in the house. One of my dog's actually learned to help pick up laundry!! If only I could get the kids and boyfriend to do the same!!!

Good luck!!!!

My puppy Linus could get quite snappy about stolen items from his favorite areas: the bathroom trash (yup, feminine items were key) and the laundry (undies & socks).

I got tall hampers & put them in the closet (he had quickly learned to tug a sock through the venilation holes!) and bathroom trashcans go under the sink.

That in itself took care of quite a few instances!
