6 weeks old and already potty trained?

Hiya, I got my pup yesterday morning, when I got to the ladies house the puppies were outside in a large pen, they all looked pretty happy and had a kennel to sleep in, so when I got him home I knew that outside is where he should go to the toilet, but I didn't think that outside at my house was the place to go. I took him utside probably every half an hour the first few times he didn't go, but then he started going and also crying to go outside, as well as in the middle of the night he wouldn't settle so I let him out and he went.

Is it normal for such young pups to be toilet trained, wether they were raised indoors or outdoors?

It's unusual but not impossible. Some dogs seem to have a natural inclination to potty training. Some dogs/breeds are very particular about where they go. My last dog sure was. I never really had to train him. At 6 weeks though, there will still be accidents and new learning that goes on.

I haven't seen any dog potty trained so young. So, yours is unique. By the way - you can look gift horse in the mouth. How else would you know when to give it to somebody else as a present...

It's not impossible for the possible to happen. My dog learned to ring a bell at 8 weeks old and go outside. So yes it is possible...

Possible, but very unlikely. If nothing else you have a big step in the right direction. Keep taking him out and praising him like crazy when he goes.

My Great Dane was 9 weeks old when he was 100% potty trained, but I worked with him constantly and he had lived with me since he was 3 weeks old (he was a rescue and his mother and siblings were here too).

Laska.....My new Pup Iris was givin to me too early because of factors of her mom being sick. She is 8 weeks old now and only had 1 accident in her crate the first night. Puddles my 8 month old had regular potty issues with accidents and such.. But little Iris knows where to go. Its heavenly isnt it? Embrace it.
