Crate training my pitty

My 5 month old pitbull has been very well so far. She loves her crate and goes in it to sleep and to spend the day in while I am away. She took to it with ease, but my question is, how do i get her to go in it on command?

Say the command every time you put her in there.

For example, the command I us is "In". So as you are leading her in you would say "(her name) In." then once she's in proceed to say "Good In." Lot's of praise, make it all very exciting and happy for your pup. You can even give her a bit of treat once she completes a successful "In" if you'd like.

Yeah, I ditto that. I used the phrase"in bed" and I made it real cozy for him and would pet his face and praise when he layed down in it. Now I don't use the crate but i still use "in bed" and he lays down and settles in at where ever i'm pointing to like with his other dog beds.

I agree. I actually taught Shippo the command on accident because I found myself saying "go to bed" every time I put him in there. Then one night, he just walked in and I realized what I'd done lmao.

Isn't it great when we do something right on accident? I did the same thing with my Cane Corso. Now our 2 yr old Lab learned from him and they both sleep any where their crates are. It also makes travel a lot easier, just take the crates and the dogs are happy and at home.

I also use "go to bed".

Alright thanks guys i'll use the command go to bed, she's been a great little dog. Except when she gets too hyper she trys to bite people. When that happens we try to ignore but sometimes its hard.

Funny, how people have similar experiences.

You can use "Bed!" for energy-savings.
