My dog was being naughty at bed time and would not go to bed!

Well my usual evening routine is to walk Ozzy for a long walk around 6 after his dinner and then the rest of the night he is pretty chill. He doesn't require a ton of excercise so this usually wears him out. He almost always falls asleep by 9 and then I wake him up around 11 and we go to my room where he goes back to sleep on his bed. He has not slept in his crate since he was 4.5 months. He is 8 months now.

Well last night when I woke him at bedtime he grabbed a bully stick and started chewing on it like crazy. If I tried to take it away from him he ran away like it was a game. Finally I just grabbed it and put him in my room but he sat at my door and barked. I live in a condo with neighbors close by so barking at that time is a NO NO. I went back out and got the stick and let him have it. He chewed it for awhile and I fell asleep then at midnight I woke up to him barking at my door again. I took him out to potty just in case and took the stick away but this time on the way back in he grabbed his empty kong and started running around like a maniac. I took that away and forced him to come to the bedroom and he finally after a few protesting barks got in his bed and went to sleep.

What the heck? The weird thing is that last night I took him for a much more vigorous walk/jog then we normally do so I really thought he would calm in the evening. And he was till bedtime...any reasons you can think of? He has only acted this way about 3 or 4 times since I got him at 9 weeks. Usually he just jumps in his bed when we go to my room and is very well behaved.

This may be way off, but could it be that he was thirsty? I know that my papillon starts to pant and gets really thirsty when she is chewing on a bully stick. That may not explain why it started......

Yeah he was thirsty, I should have mentioned that I gave him a little water when I took him out at midnight. Then he grabbed his kong and started going crazy again. I also don't know why it started...

Luckily this only happens once inawhile so hopefully it's just one of those things and he doesn't repeat it tonight...I need some sleep!
