Help with kennel at night

We adopted Bucky a GR mix about a week ago. He is now 11 weeks old. He seems to be doing really well with potty training!!! I have only had one accident with him in the last 3 days!!! My problem starts at bedtime. He seems to hate his Kennel... During the day he goes in and out freely, I put treats inside and praise him when he goes in but at night he starts with a wimper and continues with real complaining last night for about 1 1/2 hrs before he fell asleep. He gets exercised and goes potty before we put him in the kennel. I know at this age he needs to go out during the night every few hrs but how do I get him to settle and sleep or will this come with time?

Thanks in advance for all the tips.

YEs it does get better, sometimes if the crate is in your room by your bed you can southe him by talking or just by being there, I myself notcied my dog will get wimpering in her crate if my other dog is upstairs with me she gets lonely

Maybe I'm too afraid he'll train us! It seems the advice is to not respond when he whines, but should I be saying "No" when he really gets going or try to soothe him?

Ok.. I'll be strong, hopefully my husband can be too! How often should I interrupt his crying to take him outside? As I said, he's 11 weeks old

Thanks

If you're looking for a full proof way to crate train your dog, get a note pad and pen out. Spend a day with your pup and record everything that goes in, and comes out, and write down the times. The next day, follow the same schedule, taking your dog outside at the same times he was eliminating yesterday. Without recording how often he eliminates, it's all guess work and feel. If you keep him on schedule you will be able to see which intervals you can remove from the schedule should he choose not to eliminate and do other activities like sniffing or playing with leaves. You'll probably need to use this schedule for a few weeks, but if you stick to it, I think you will learn a lot about your dog's developing habits. Good luck!

go to him when he is not crying and take him out. I never wait till my pup has to go out.I take him out every 45 minutes(he's 5 months) see that's the thing don't wait for them to tell you, Decide how much time your going to wait before you take him out and then when it hits that time take him out.I know by watching my pup that pretty much every 45 minutes he will potty.Do it over and over and over and over and over and over and it will just become habbit. For you and your dog.

During the day I take him out at least every 45min and watch him like a hawk between. I was wondering about during the night... potty every 2-3hrs or more often?
