Huge baby step

I have been trying to get my 9 month old puppy to walk on a leash without pulling. After a few weeks, she was able to do it with only a slight pull. We are not out of the woods yet, but thanks to the great advice on this forum, I managed to get her to walk beside me, calmly, on a loose leash, while giving her treats and praise. This may seem like a small thing but for me it is not. Go Heidi!

Re: Huge baby step

That's more than a baby step! We've all seen the different walking styles.....one, way out front, getting as far away as possible or the one that veers left, right, fast and then slow making it hard to keep pace and then we see two walking side by side, looking in the same direction and sharing something very special.....Oh, we were talking about dogs weren't we?

Re: Huge baby step

I succeeded with the same thing this weekend. I also used treats and it worked like a charm. Maybe I must go try it now without treats. Her collar and leash is her bling bling and she loves it.

Cheers

Henry
