Re: Splashing in Waterbowl

Why? Because it's fun for her and because she can .
Seriously, Ella will do this too if given the opportunity and Charlie thinks it's great fun to dunk his head in it causing all the water to go sloshing over the rim. I gave up keeping a water bowl inside and just fill one every time they go out ( multiple times a day) and let them drink outside. If I do put one down inside i have to watch them and a sharp AAHHH when they're starting to play with it is all it takes to make them drink nicely instead of splashing. Since I find I have other things to do other than just being the water monitor, leaving it outside is easier for me.

Re: Splashing in Waterbowl

Good call.. I feel bad because my Pek has been around for 3.5 years now and has lived the spoiled life... but with our new Pyr, we are having to change how we have always done things and I think Wicket is still trying to figure out what happened to his old life. Oh well.. we will all get over it!

I definitely will do the water outside and see how it goes.

Re: Splashing in Waterbowl

Please remember the water outside only works if they are given access to it on a regular basis. I wouldn't suggest this for dogs that only go out a few times a day. I'm sure this is stating the obvious, but you can never spell things out quite enough I've found

Re: Splashing in Waterbowl

My Tanner would only do that outside in the summertime when she had been running around playing. She would splash, then sit in the puddle. I think she was trying to cool herself off. Is it hot where you are, or do you have your heater cranked up?

Re: Splashing in Waterbowl

It's not hot here.. actually around high of 60's and low of 40's.. so fairly chilly for Texas. She paws at the water a couple of times and then drinks from the bowl.

Considering she is a puppy, this could be a phase.. I hope.

I would like for the dogs to have free access to the water bowl.. but right now I have to monitor the puppy's drinking.
