Sorry if this is too graphic. I'm new to this forum and this is my first puppy.

My 11-week old Yorkipoo is doing pretty well with training. He's in his crate all day while I'm at work (except when I'm home for lunch) and holds it perfectly. He always pees outside, except a handful of accidents when it was my fault because I hadn't let him out. But he won't poop outside. And when I catch him starting to go inside, and take him outside, he doesn't want to continue and will just shuffle around. Even when I wait half an hour or so, he still won't go out there.

Suggestions?

my dorkie ( doxie/yorkie mix ) is the same way. no matter what i try, he will not and has never pooped outside.

I know how frustrating it can be to wait for your dog to go when you want them too. But Elsa would look at me crazy if we didn't go out for a walk before eliminating. Have you tried taking a stroll to see if that would help?

Continue to try and get them to poop outside but if they have a poop accident in the house take the poop and put it in the yard so she recognizes her scent there.

I would sugest making a day of it on the weekend. When you get up feed the dog, etc and make a complete day of you and your dog being outside, do not let the dog back into the house until it poops. Fed it well in the morning. Play games with it to keep it active and promote pooping and do some training and give treats. Make the poor thing need to go and don't let it in until it does. This may take all day, but have fun while doing it. When the dog finally goes praise, treat, and then let the dog in the house. Good luck

Our yorkipoo didn't get it until he was almost 6 months old!! Spending time with him outside seemed to do the trick. With small dogs especially they seem to have to go right after some excitement (you coming home) and after some aerobic time (running around the house). Take him straight from the crate to the yard and stay with him until he goes then give him lots of praise. yp's love to please their owner and hate to disappoint! Be careful not to break his spirit with too much criticism when he makes a mistake. Good luck.
